I was advised the get the biggest wattage and most lamps I could afford, by the lady who used to do my nails.
Well, doing the right hand I knew would be harder. I have done a reasonable job of them, forgot to use the primer and a nail came off after a couple of days. So it needed replacing. But I think that after the 4th time of doing my nails I will be all right. I must add that I am only putting the Jel on, and not the actualy false!! nail. It is all down to getting organised, being in a routine too and not rushing which we all do. It trook me about 1 1/2 hours....
AS for the video if you watch it like I did with my husband, he said well you can do better than that. The demonstators nails were not very good. the information though was. Sue

I have been having my nails professionally manicured, strengthened, and extended using gel for several months - unfortunately even with the best care damage does happen. However, with this kit I have been able to fix problems and replace gel nails myself.

The lamp is not particularly powerful,so it takes some time, but then you would not expect it from a low cost UV lamp. You would be hard pressed to find the individual items for such a good price!

I did not even need to watch the DVD, the sheet of instructions was enough, given that I have seen it done half a dozen times.

I have seen reviews saying the nail tips and glue are not strong. Fortunately, they are the most easily replaced items.

I can definitely see a time when I will not be visiting my nail technician!

I bought this thinking how nice it would be on my skin. How wrong I was. If you don't heat the wax enough, it begins to solidify again, and then you can't brush the wax on. But if you heat it too it's correct temp, according to the instructions, it BURNS!

The brush after a couple of strokes get clogged with cooling wax, then trying to apply a new layer without scalding yourself makes a mess, and you end up with clumps of wax all over your face. After five for six more strokes the brush was not usable at all.

Also, you need to have a HUGE towel, or something underneath you to catch any falling hot wax, or you will end up with a ruined carpet. I learned the hard way.

Very difficult product to use, and not as easy as it makes out to be.

Apart from that it does smell nice, and the wax on your skin does make it smooth, but ive used it once, and never again. I can't stand the mess.

This is the second Rio Easy Art nail kit I have purchased. The whole concept is fantastic. Extra printing plates can be purchased to add more designs to your collection. Using it takes a lot of getting used to, but once the technique is mastered it can produce great results. It is much easier to do on somebody elses nails due to the 'need for speed'. Once the polish is on the plate, it must be scraped and the pattern picked up within a matter of seconds.

I have given 4 stars because it is a great product and at amazon prices, great value. It comes in a nice black plastic case, and in the case you get full instructions in several languages, lovely pictures that show what can be done with the set, 3 printing polishes (black, white and natural), a clear enamel, small bottle of acetone (you will need more of this as normal polish remover is not suitable for cleaning the equipment), dabber, scraper and 3 disks that are perfect for a jazzed up french manicure.

My advice is not to expect perfect results first time around and allow yourself plenty of 'playtime' to get used to it. You will also need some standard nail polish for use as a base if you don't want it on your bare nails. The printing polish is not suitable for use as a base.
