It seems that these devices are like Marmite, and people either love or hate them. Some complain that as you're listening to compressed audio sent via FM radio it's not the greatest sound quality, certainly not when compared to plugging an iPod into an auxiliary connector on your car stereo. Personally I've never had any problem with the sound quality with any of these I've used, but this one sounds particularly clear, and anyway not everybody has a car with an auxiliary connector, myself included. Others complain that the reception is poor, and I confess that some areas of the country do cause problems in this field. Should I drive into the London area for example I switch mine off as it can be incredibly difficult to find a "clear" (available, i.e. not already being broadcast on) frequency, and as a result the reception can be poor. In most areas, however, it sounds just fine as the FM dial isn't quite as jammed.

Setup is a breeze. Connect your iPod (I've tried it with a current-generation Classic and a newly-purchased Nano) to the gizmo, push the other end into the lighter socket in your car, and as long as your ignition is on the device should come to life. The display on the central module will show you the frequency it is currently set to, and if you press play on the iPod and tune the radio to this frequency you should hear your music playing. Simple. If, however, the reception is poor, press the "scan" button and it will try to find a clear frequency, and hopefully when you retune your radio this will be better. If it is, you can hold the "scan" button until the display flashes, then press it again, and it is saved as a preset. I think (apologies - I'm not looking at the instructions) you can set four presets... That's it for the basic operation. There is also a button on the lighter plug which lights up to show if your iPod is being charged (when connected your iPod is being constantly recharged) and can be pressed to switch the whole thing off if desired. I don't use this feature very much...

It's a very small package which easily fits into the glove compartment of your car, and it works like a charm. It's also the best FM transmitter I've ever used, but do be aware that it won't work if you're not using an iPod due to the connector used. Highly recommended.

Although this arrived later than expected - the weather around Christmas time didn't help!!!!- this was received as a "Brilliant pressie". It does as it says and has made driving and listening to music safer for the recipient. I might even buy one for me if I ever get an ipod!

Griffin iTrip Transmitter - Works With iPhone

Bought this as a replacement for a wired-in FM transmitter and it has been great. Clear signal, little interference and signal is boosted if you plug it in to power as well. The app it downloads is a bit useless as all it does is duplicate functions on the device itself and is more gimmick than anything else.

After a long evening of searching the internet for children's ear/headphones these are the ones I finally chose......

These headphones are really good for small children, perfect, adjustable sizing and stylish too! The best thing is that they regulate the volume without affecting the quality of sound. The volume is always under 85db which is the suggested safe level for children without them damaging their ears. They fit in mp3, stereo, DS..............
My 6 year old daughter is very happy with hers, she thinks they are so funky!

I would definately recommend these for primary age children and under. Initially they seem a bit pricey but they are well worth every penny
