I'm fairly new to Folk rock, being a mostly hard rock, posthardcore, grungey sort of person normally. Got hooked on Band of horses while playing GTAIV and have found all sorts of great bands via the wonder of last fm. I have to say that this album is one of my all time favorites, ever. I absolutley love it. If you in any way like Band of horses, Bon Iver, Fleet foxes, Iron and Wine etc then just buy it. Seriously I would be very surprised if you regretted it, if you do I'll make sure my wife spanks me for recommending it and causing dissapointment.

I can only repeat what others have said about this truly
magnificent debut album. I bought it after hearing 'The
Cave' on a tv trailer and was delighted to discover that
there were even better tracks on the album like 'White
Blank Page'and 'Little Lion Man'.

Soulful, poetic lyrics and, at times, thundering guitar
rhythm make this wonderful listening again and again in
the car or wherever.

I'm already looking forward to the follow up album and
in the meantile I'm advising all my fiends and rellies
to check out 'Sigh No More'!

Please, please, please for the love of all that is good and holy, do not get sucked into the hype that surrounds this album and band. I can't make out what the fuss is. This album is below average at the very best. I fear the world has gone mad and taken leave of it's senses, when dreck like this gets critically and commercially lauded. They sound like coldplay got into a box of banjos. Do not waste your money on this rubbish. Please.

I highly recommend this album.
Mumford and Sons have a unique sound, but I suppose if you pushed me for a comparison I'd say they sound a bit like the Fleet Foxes (if you found the Fleet Foxes playing in an Irish pub).
Fresh, uplifting, deep and melodious.

A first experience of Folk, I guess, for many people due to the airtime these guys are getting. This is also true for me, and I liked what I heard so got the album. Highlights for me though are the singles, and having played this album a few times now some of the songs, and the singing is starting to 'grate' a little, and starting to sound a bit 'samey'.
I also think this band is riding the wave of success created by Fleet Foxes last year. I had similar issues with them, in that I enjoyed the songs played on the radio, but the album soon lost its appeal.

This is very different though to the usual stuff you hear on the radio, good on them to getting the airplay. And I would suggest buying this if you are ready to push your musical bounderies somewhat.
